Blog News: Archive Update
Hello all!
I'm excited to bring you two new sections on the Archives page: Author/Actor, and Publication Year
I have also updated/added a few genres.
The authors and actors section is not complete. Recently I have been tracking authors and actors (well known ones) and putting them as labels so I could link to them later. This does not mean that I've listed every big name who participated in something I reviewed. I'll continue to keep this up, and slowly go back and add to the past posts which do not include this.
I've noticed the Archives page is getting rather long. Vote on the sidebar on whether I should break each section into its own page to make it easier to search please.

Post Update
Hello all,
For the first time in a long time, there has been no Wednesday morning post. I apologize for this. I've been doing archival work in the UK for the past two weeks and decided to not stress about getting reviews out. I will be returning very soon, however, and am excited to share the many new books I've found here, as well as jump right back into watching TV shows and movies. And perhaps even some music! I haven't been listening to much here, so it's quite possible there will be something that catches my ear when I return.
As always, we do take requests. Just leave a comment on any of the posts with a request for a genre, a specific title (book, movie, TV show, song, etc), or any other suggestions.
Thank you for your patience, and your continued support. We will return shortly!

Short Story Review: Half-Hours in Hades
Hello hello!
It is my great pleasure to introduce not only one but two new elements to this blog!
First, the short story review. Short stories have great power and take great skill to write. While not as talked about as other forms of writing, it does have great value, especially in class rooms due to time restrictions and the ability to narrow in on specific elements. So, enter the short story reviews!
Second, and far more exciting, student authors! I have offered my students the opportunity to write reviews for class, which can be posted here if they like, as an entrance to the world of academics and critics, as well as many other great learning opportunities. And I'm very very excited to say that they have taken me up on this offer! All posts will be preread by myself before being shared, and I trust this group to be thorough in their analysis of the content of the media they review. Feel free to leave feedback--I will be sure to pass it on to the student authors.

Age Group: 11+ (make-believe characters that might be concerning to younger children) [Maria Gianna here. I might advise a little older so the reader can appreciate the intertextual references. If there's one thing G. K. Chesterton loves, it's a good name drop.]
Summary
The wonderful author, G. K. Chesterton, again shows his brilliance in his work "Half-Hours in Hades." He gives a hilarious and interesting account on the different types of demons. He goes over the different types of demons, explains them to you, and tells where one could find them. This is a good essay to read if you are studying G. K. Chesterton.
Word of Warning
My Thoughts
I think this is a very funny essay to read. It gives an interesting view on demons in a good way, even though they are generally bad. It might be a little confusing for young readers. I enjoyed reading it very much.

Blog News
Hello all,
The semester has begun at last. This means I do not have nearly as much time for reading, listening, watching...basically for consuming and analyzing media. And my classes this semester do not really lend to any analysis either, with the study of textbooks, the writings of John Henry Newman, and the works of G. K. Chesterton (that might result in some reviews).
This doesn't mean I'm abandoning the blog. Far from it. It does mean that I won't be able to share a post every week. I'm still working at posting as often as possible, and right now I have posts scheduled out into March, but I just wanted you to know why posts have slowed down considerably. I apologize for this, but between three jobs and a full class load, time can be short to come by.
Thank you for continuing to visit. I hope you find this site helpful. As always, we take suggestions for media as well as ways to improve the site (such as revamping the "Archives" page. you should stop by and see it if you haven't yet. It's pretty cool).

Variety?
Hello all,
Having fiddled with the Archives page again (I can't seem to just leave it be), I discovered something rather shocking. We have almost no Marvel or DC reviews.
Now that's only shocking because superhero movies and TV shows tend to be a guilty pleasure of mine. Yes, the secret I have been unintentionally keeping from the blog has at last come out.
And I'm sorry. Stacy and I will work harder to review these, since we do tend to watch quite a few of them. I suspect the reason there are so few reviews is because we see these in theaters, and people give you the "what are you doing?" look when you bring a notebook (actually, it's just hard to take notes in a theater. too many distractions, no pause button, etc).
But that is no excuse. I'm going to get right on this, probably over break.

Blog Update
Hello all,
First, a very heartfelt thank you to those of you who stop by. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your visits to our site the best they can be. We write for you!
Secondly, I'm very sorry for our lack of posts. School has started again and in addition to working a part time job and being a full time student, I am very blessed to have the opportunity to teach a British Literature class to a great group of local homeschoolers. I love teaching and tend to devote a lot of time and energy to it whenever possible. Which means I'm pretty busy--and very happy!
I had originally intended to post about the works we are reading (most being rather gripping novels), but I've injured my left wrist playing soccer and typing with one hand isn't nearly as fast as one might think. So, until I can take off the brace and move my hand again, I'm afraid posts on here will be a bit rare for the time being.
On the bright side, I'm right handed, and it should only be a couple of weeks, and then I should have lots to write about with all the books my class is reading, the music on the radio, Netflix (yay newly aquired Netflix account!), the great TV shows starting up again soon, and the new movies coming out (personally I can't wait for Star Wars in December).
I'm working on a review on some random pop songs, but can't promise a publication date at the moment. I'll get it up as soon as I can!
So thank you for your patience. I'll get posts up as soon as I'm able to. In the meantime, Plugged In (link on the sidebar) is a great resource. It's not Catholic, but it is Christian, and they do cover a lot of the more recent activity in the world of entertainment/media.

On behalf of the team here at Realms of Gold (currently Stacy and myself), I want to apologize for the rate of new posts, which has slowed down considerably. Stacy and I are both in college and while we fully intend to continue to post on this blog, I'm afraid we will not be able to return to the rate we started with (two posts a week).
This does not mean no posts. Quite the contrary! We will continue to read books, listen to music, watch movies, and review them as often as we can. One way you can keep up with the blog is to follow us with a Google account, or follow us by email (both options can be found on the sidebar). When we post a new review, you will get a message saying we have done so.
Also, we welcome feedback. Are there particular posts you like better than others? Music, books, movies? Any requests for specific materials? Things you think should change? Please let us know.

Labels Make It Simple
Hello all,
Are you looking for a specific genre? Age group? Rating? We label our posts with the following information: format (book, movie, music, author alcove, etc), recommended age, genre, and official rating. All you have to do is scroll down a little ways and look over at the right sidebar. All our labels are listed there, as links, and clicking on them will bring up all posts with that label. We hope this makes it easier to find what you're looking for.
Also, if you have any suggestions, we are happy to consider them. More books? Movies? A specific genre? We're eager to hear from you.
